Title

Approval of a Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) Form 1302 (Request for Construction Project) for Phase 1 of the Aviation Pathway Project (CIP Project R-330).

Body

Recommended Action: Approve the KDOT Form 1302 and authorize the Chairman to sign.

In 2013, the County applied for federal funding for this project through the Transportation Enhancement program to funding managed directly by KDOT, through a separate allocation of TE funds managed by the Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO) and through a WAMPO managed allocation of Transportation Alternative (TA) funds.  The project was included in the approved 2014 - 2017 Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) for TA funding in 2015 and 2016.

Submission of the 1302 form does not create a new CIP project or a new funding commitment for the County.

Alternatives:  Notify WAMPO and KDOT that Sedgwick County does not wish to proceed with the project.

Financial Considerations:  The County would be obligated to pay for 20 percent of the cost of construction and construction engineering.  The project is expected to cost $600,000 resulting in a Federal share of $480,000 and a local share of $120,000.  If the project is granted Federal funding, a CIP amendment would be required to authorize the local share of the funding.  The City of Derby has agreed to split the loca...
