Grant Summary and Timeline:The Kansas Department of Corrections - Juvenile Services (KDOC-JS) announced the statewide availability of $350,000 in additional funding for State Fiscal Year 2014 (SFY14). Sedgwick County is eligible to receive $79,738 and can apply to utilize the funding for current prevention/graduated sanctions programs. In order to receive these additional SFY14 grant funds, Sedgwick County must submit an application to KDOC-JS by February 28, 2014. The Sedgwick County Juvenile Corrections Advisory Board (Team Justice) approved this funding application on February 7, 2014.
The additional grant funds would be used to offset the current personnel shortfall in our two graduated sanctions programs; Juvenile Intensive Supervision Program (JISP) and Juvenile Case Management (JCM). When our SFY14 grant application was submitted last May, our personnel costs = $2,555,306. Our SFY14 grant award for personnel covers $1,938,295, which is a shortfall of $617,011. If we receive this award, the $79,738 will be applied to this shortfall. The remaining shortfall will be covered by program income and through vacancy savings.
The additional grant funds will supplement the following programs:
Graduated Sanctions:
Juvenile Case Management = $55,817
Juvenile Intensive Supervision Program =$23,921
