Recommended Action: Approve the Authority to Award Contract and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Sedgwick County applied for federal safety funds through KDOT to remove rails from small bridges at various locations throughout the county where the rail posed a greater threat to safety than not having the rail. KDOT took bids for the project in December and requires the authorization of the county prior to awarding the contract.

Financial Considerations: This project is 90% federally funded. The county's 10% share of the project is estimated by KDOT to be $7,060. The local share is budgeted in CIP project R-329.
Legal Considerations: The County is authorized to enter into contracts with the Secretary of Transportation to participate in the benefits of federal aid funds under K.S.A. 68-402b.
