Title
Service agreement between Sedgwick County Emergency Communications and Voiance Language Translation.
Body
Recommended Action: Approve the agreement and authorize the Chairman to sign.
Emergency Communications is requesting approval of the service agreement with Voiance Language Services, LLC. They provide translation 24 hours per day for more than 200 languages. CyraCom International has been in business since 1995 and is the parent company to Voiance. Voiance was created in 2009 to specifically serve the needs of government clients.
Currently, Emergency Communications contracts with another vendor that often charges a higher rate based on the type of language being translated. The proposed company charges a flat rate regardless of the language being translated.
Alternatives: Continue with our current vendor.
Financial Considerations: In 2012, Emergency Communications spent $18,255 on translation services. When comparing Voiance to the current language translation service for a two-month period, costs were reduced by approximately 73%.
Legal Considerations: The authority for this action is K.S.A. 19-101, et seq. A simple majority vote is required.
