Title
Seven vendor agreements to provide specialized transportation to transit dependent individuals to access medical appointments and social services.

Body
Recommended Action: Approve the agreements and authorize the Chairman to sign.

Door-to-door accessible transportation is provided to transit dependent individuals to access medical appointments, social services and work in order to remain independent and in the community.  These are renewals with the first agreements initiated by the County in 1998.  This agreement is for the period beginning January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014.
2014 agreements are with:
1.      ABC Taxi
2.      American Cab
3.      Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation's Timber Lines
4.      Kansas Elks Training Center for the Handicapped (KETCH)
5.      Rita's Rides
6.      Tornado Transit
7.      Wisdom Travels
Alternatives:  Not approve the agreements.

Financial Considerations:  Federal, state and mill levy dollars support this specialized transportation.  Mill levy funds were included in the 2014 Budget adopted August 7, 2013.
Cost Centers:
34035-254  Rural 5311 General Public Transportation             $  75,000
34040-254  Aging Transportation Admin                                      100,000
34056-254  Newly Urban 5307                                              25,000
34043-254  OAA Caregiver                                                    25,000
34010-205  Physical Disabilities                                                 100,000
Total:  $325,000
Legal Considerations:  The County has the ability to enter into these agreements under its home rule powers, per K.S.A. 19-101 et seq.  The agreements have been reviewed by the Sedgwick County Counselor's Office.  A simple majority vote is required.

Policy Considerations:  There are no policy implications.
