KDHE requires that the BOCC find that State Solid Waste Permit Applications are consistent with local Solid Waste Plans. KDHE
has recently developed permit requirements for e-waste processors. Starkey, Inc. has been processing e-waste since 2006. Starkey
has been working with KDHE on completing the permit application and the final step requires the BOCC to agree that the application
is consistent with the Solid Waste Management Plan. The Solid Waste Management Committee reviewed this Application at their
meeting on August 2, 2010 and found that it is consistent with the Sedgwick County Solid Waste Management Plan, which includes
waste minimization and recycling.
