CONSIDERATION OF A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,559,947 FOR THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT ON AGING (KDOA) FY 2014 AREA PLAN.

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the new Four Year Area Plan. Authorize the Chairman to sign the grant application and other related documents necessary to complete the grant process and to establish the budget authority.

Grant Summary and Timeline: Central Plains Area Agency on Aging (CPAAA) has been receiving Older Americans Act Federal funding for 33 years. The Kansas Department on Aging requires all Area Agencies on Aging to submit an Area Plan that outlines what the community needs are and how federal funds for the planning and service will be expended. The Central Plains Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council approved the Area Plan on May 15, 2013 , the Harvey County Board of County Commissioners and Butler County Board of County Commissioners have reviewed and authorized the Sedgwick County Chairman to sign the Area Plan. The New Area Plan covers the period of October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2017. The Area Plan will fund the following programs in FY 2014:

OAA III B Support and Community Services - $447,889
OAA III C-1 Nutrition - Congregate - Federal - $553,261 State - $23,999
OAA III C-2 Nutrition - Home Delivered - Federal - $398,832 State - $773,263
OAA III D Health Promotion and Disease Prevention - $33,664
OAA III E Family Caregiver Support Services - $229,996
(This is an estimated budget. The final 2014 budget numbers have not been received from the Kansas Department on Aging as the Administration on Aging has not finalized the budget for 2014)
